This isn't a show stopper as the poll can be added to the entries thread. So, the photos would be visible in the poll thread just as before.

And it greatly reduces the amount of work required by the person setting up the poll.

Only problem with that is the pictures will be spread over multiple pages, which could influence the final outcome as lazy people will not look at every page.

But like you said no show stopper!! Lets bring it back this weekend if the poll is sorted by then!

would it be possible to do the comp in a gallery then the pic with the most comments could be the winner

I known that means someone will need to organise it but it would be one way

I like that idea, but the problem would be to download and upload the pictures and to link them to their respective owners library. On the other side it'd be interesting if entries be send to the one holding the contest that weekend and be put up anonymously for voting with the winner and the entrants being announced afterwards. Another problem I see is that people could keep on voting on old galleries. On the other side it'd be possible to post the winners and entries in a fresh thread to collect those...

Still, a lot of trouble.

I see the principle problem of the use of a gallery for holding the images is the need to upload them to the gallery, some of which would come from other web sites (photobucket, flickr, etc). This would leave the site open to complaints of image theft.

The original system on the DCM site was to link the poll/summary thread images to their original location. So the image owner had full control over taking the image down.

Hi Amy, we hoped to bring the comp back to its home site this weekend but although I see we can now vote\poll on 30 selections we can still only post 4 images max. Has any further thought been given to resolving this problem.

Just to add my voice to this - the weekly comp was one of the main reasons I have returned to this site, and was one of the best features of the old site - I hope we can find a way to get this working, as I would like to start taking part again. Nice to see some of the old names back here!

It`s the only thing that will tempt me back. The alternative comps elsewhere just do not bring in the numbers and range but then with the way this site is so quiet I don`t know if this one will either. Especially if you don`t sort out soon how to put multiple images into a polling thread

Given up on it

Like you Jinky it was one of the my main interests, and it made me look at the gallery of of other entrants so it had a double hit. The team have gone so far in making it possible but failed us at the last big hurdle, I cant see the reason either!.

I hardly ever come on here now, its so darn quite its not worth while and the weekly comp would be one way to liven things up again, till then I will just pass through.

Bob.
