I just don`t see it working well under the poll / post limits and wonder why on this all new singing and dancing site there is the old problem of staff not bothering to pick up issues raised. If they do not see / reply to stuff when it is quiet it does not augur well for the future

Hi jinky/everyone,

Expanding the poll size beyond 10 options is something we had not considered before, but we shall consider it now and see if this is something we can change.

Thanks,

Amy

Thanks Amy, your a star.

For the few that selected "What Comp is that" option.

On the old DCM site we ran a weekly contest, well it was more of a weekly challenge really. A topic was set by last weeks winner, the theme could be anything that would not exclude anyone, " Round " for instance, it was up to you to interpret the theme and provide as interesting an image as you could.

The benefits were many, it made you get out with your camera and learn new techniques it challenged the Grey matter pushed you to look at images in a new way.

No prize is given and anyone can vote, then you had the joy of setting next weeks theme, its a very educational exercise and when we get it going I would encourage everyone to join in any time you can.

Bob

I agree with Bob - great aspect of the old site that would be nice to see working here effctively. Alternative arrangements have just not quite taken off fully and with new users on here it would give some life to it. Be nice to see this sorted out soon given the response of the poll so far to get going. I voted for waiting until poll issues were resolved and given that 18 people want to get going now so far and would be likely to be entering it shows the limit of polls to 10 would not meet demand and so would be worth wiating despite the popular vote.
Great how you can circumvent democracy with an argument isn`t it :-)

Hi everyone,

What kind of poll limit do you feel would be appropriate?

We need to find a balance that is suitable, once you get past 20 or 30 it begins to get unwieldy.

Let us know what you think!

Thanks,

Amy

Hi Amy, on the old site a busy weekend would have seen 20 entries now that we have the other mag joined I would go for the 30 limit. The site is getting better all the time and I personally think its going to get quite popular to take part, it would be a shame if we could not add everyone that wanted to participate due to a lack of polling slots.

What do others think .

Bob

I would just like to see the weekly comp back, it's one of the only reasons I came on here today, and quite frankly it's been almost inspirational for me at times, but having read the posts here there are things that need to be sorted out. Not only the poll but the limit of 4 pics per post, we can't run a poll if all the pics aren't there to be looked at, it's as important as the poll to sort this out too. Also the fact that some experienced user of the forums are finding it impossible to show their pics from their gallery in a thread, that doesn't inspire me with confidence. I still can't work out how to find an individual's gallery so I'm sure there are others in the same boat. I'd love to see the comp back but if it's not reasonably simple to do as on the old DC site then it will fail and that would be a great shame PR, do you agree?

It would be nice to see it back on here...I enjoy thinking what I could do although my entries were few and far between...but did manage to win on...also enjoyed looking at others interpretations...

Hi Amy,

Do you have any timescales for getting these changes implemented??

Regards
Mike.
