Question Photoshop Elements 9

Hi Gang, I'm thinking of asking Santa to bring me Photoshop Elements 9 for Christmas. Looking on ebay for approximate prices and found there is an education version a bit cheaper. Is there much difference or is it better to get the full version?
There's also a retail version and an Australian version too. Anybody any idea if our Aussie version is any good? Can't think why would they need to offer an Aussie version???

No, no difference - you get the same version. A couple of points to note however: (a) you have to qualify and prove that you qualify for the educational version, see here http://www.adobe.com/education/purch...,resizable=yes and, (b) educational versions do not qualify for reduced pricing in any future upgrades. What this basically means is that should you qualify for an student/educational version now but in 2-3 years decide to upgrade to say the full version of Photoshop, or even a later version of Elements when perhaps you no longer qualify for the student/educational version, then you will not be able to upgrade at the reduced rate.

I hope that I've made myself clear?

Wow thanks for that Forseti . I'm glad I asked. It was a quick reply too, I didn't get chance to edit my question. I've been investigating a bit myself but haven't found out why we have an Aussie version. Any ideas please?

Sorry, could you expand upon this a bit more please. I can't imagine there will be any differences at all in the application itself and it may be that when you are attempting to download it (?) Adobe is detecting your ISP address and re-directing you to an Aussie server. This of course is for reasons of pricing where European/Aussie prices are considerably higher than those afforded US citizens.

Looking on the Australian Ebay and found there was a full "Australian" version of Elements 9. It's really not important, I was just curious as why we might need a different version to UK or US versions. I went for the full version that didn't mention being Australian. I'm sure it'll be fine.
Thanks very much for your help and saving me from buying the EDU edition.
Cheers.

Aussie version..... Is it upside-down, maybe? Or it may say 'Stumps' instead of 'Close' perhaps?

Talking

Nice one Geoff, but it's a bit rude to mention the cricket!! The Aussies are a bit sensitive about the state of play at the moment. I've lived here a long time but still shout for the Poms. We're giving it to 'em this time eh? Just hope we can maintain the pressure.
I've had the Aussie version thing clarified, it just means we get technical support from here, otherwise it's just the same.
Cheers.

Well, I don't think there's an 'education' version of it anyway but it's a great program as long as your computer can handle it..... a Windows XP, single processor machine like mine had too many problems with the trial version and I've had to stick with Elements 6.

Correct. When student/education versions are being referred to it's not so much to do with the application itself but more to do with the options for purchasing.

If it is on disc, rather than a download, there are different discs for different regions. For example a disc made in America may not necessarily work in Australia. Discs are categorised into world zones, for some unknown reason.
