OK - Coronation Street is on again, and I'm bored.
I've just read that Eric Clapton is to auction several of his guitars - so who is your favourite guitarist?

I'm going out on a limb with Steve Rothery....

He's done that before. He auctioned his black Strat (called Blackie) for charity a few years ago. Went for a few hundred thousand quid IIRC.

Favourite guitarist? There isn't one, there are several - it depends on my mood... David Gilmour, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani to name a few. Someone who has been in G3 - that'll probably do!

Dave Gilmour certainly; Steve Vai certainly (thanks for the Vai reminder Chris!); Gary Moore; John Lee Hooker (ok, he only twangs strings instead of being a real guitar player but...); Eric Clapton; Tony Levin (bass guitarist for Peter Gabriel and inventor of The Stick) err...... that'll do

At the risk of sounding so far up my own a*se I can see daylight, Billy Joe Armstrong is a technically great guitarist but he's got a rhythm and a lyrical style thats just brilliant. Also, easy to play - thanks Billy Joe!

If you've not heard of them, don't mind really really crude hard rock and have a sense of humour then it's worth checking them out. Imagine the Darkness with more talent, more volume and much much more vulgarity...
