Winter watch is an ancient tradition in Chester. I went along to photograph it last week. I had to use up to ISO 6400 and flash for the shots. It was hard going as there were huge crowds and I had to jostle for position with other photographers and press.
Cracking shot Karen only distraction has already been mentioned the carphone sign.
Glad i stay up North and will not get any cracked ribs in Chester look forward to your pics next year dont think the other photographers will enjoy the experiance though Go get them girl
lol, thanks Bill. I am quiet really :-) I am photographing there again tomorrow night but I am going to take a faster lens and see how I get on. Do you think I should alter the photo and block out the text? I am always wary of making a photo untruthful and hiding what is there. Although I don't suppose text is that important.
A faster lens would render the background more of a blur - and maybe shooting while on your knees would alter the angle enough to hide the Carphone Warehouse behind them? I know what you mean about altering images and it's something I try not to do - a different angle may hide it...
