It's kind of unfair though, some of us aren't on faceache and therefore can't enter. And no I'm not shallow enough just to create an account so I can win a camera. We're members here, we should be able to join in, especially when we subscribe to the mag too !!!

I think its more of a marketing ploy to entice facebook members to join Photo Radar and then perhaps subscribe to the magazines etc., rather than a ploy to get you to join facebook

I've got a Farcebook account.

Never put anything on it ever, just use it from time to time to watch out for the aimless witterings of a few acquaintances. I have to be REALLY BORED before I do that though.

If I can find the password I'll sign up.

I'm never too sure what Facebook is all about. Just had a look at the Facebook/Pradar link and I'm a little puzzled! It would appear that it is a repeat of the Forum here. Same people saying the same things.

I guess, as someone has already said, it's a marketing ploy, just to be able to double up the membership of PRadar and be able to say to prospective advertisers,"look how big our circulation/readership is".

It's a bit of a scam really.

Like HinFrance I have a Facebook account with a few photos in the gallery, but use it to contact family and friends by and large. I hardly ever use it though and prefer the phone, and only go in when I am bored. I am certainly not enticed by a humble Coolpix 7000 and really have as much chance of winning ten quid on the lottery as I would the camera. Now, a Leica M9 might be another story!

Hi there,

Over the past few months we've run lots of competitions that anyone could enter, including to win a Canon EOS 55OD with kit lens, a Nikon D700 with 50mm lens, an iPad and a Samsung NX10 (not to mention several other smaller competitions).

On this occasion however we're offering it as an incentive to join our Facebook page, which obviously runs as complementary to the website itself. Lots of companies, magazines, groups etc use Facebook nowadays as a way for promotion and to encourage interaction as obviously the audience is huge.

The benefits of joining the page are not only the chance to win prizes such as this but to be updated whenever new content is added to the site, to chat to other photographers across the world and to comment on topical events.

You do not need to be a part of Facebook to enjoy the site, which is why you will find a lot of repeated content, especially in the forums, but we have had some great feedback from those people that have joined the page so far.

I hope that explains a bit more about the decision behind running the competition on Facebook only. Please do look out for more competitions on the site, one that's running at the moment is the opportunity to win a Roxio creator and Panasonic TZ10, details here:

http://www.photoradar.com/news/story...panasonic-tz10

Any further questions do let me know,

Amy
