Thank you for your comment Howard. Out of interest I played around (having tweaked my monitor and relinked it back to QuickGammer auto adjusting on every start up) - Below a version B (boosted as suggested) beside original entry O.

I always hope to learn and would value opinion. Which is better B or O

Cheers

B is better IMO - although I might have gone even further . .

And I came to that opinion after missing the bit in your post about which one was the enhanced image

Really sorry Andy, you picture is perfect regarding levels and exposure. What I was trying to say if you push the blacks so you loose detail and push the whites in the same way then the picture would have had less midtone in and therefore looked more black and white ( in my opinion).

Now I know I am prob going to get shot down for that opinion, but I think its ok to push the blacks and increase the whites to loose detail if thats the sort of exposure and look you are trying to create. To me the exposure is only subjective. You choose the exposure thats what make us creative.

I would like other views on what I have just said, agree or dissagree let me know please

Mark, I like to think photographs can sometimes 'talk'or tell a story, express an idea, or evoke reactions etc., And for this weeks challenge I chose to retain as much detail as possible. Adding a Contrast punch may have or not reaped more votes - I just liked the shapes, shades of light and wondered what stories the rusty old layed up wheel could tell in all its fading glory.

I'm all for creativity too - hence the sepia - may even try a more arty effect at some point. A sort of modernist aged composition, contrast may work quite well. Thanks for the insp' to play.
