Unhappy Does anyone at Photoradar actually reply to enquiries?

What's the point of Photoradar having a contact us page if the people you contact don't reply? I kind of get the feeling they can't be bothered, like it is too much hassle (even if this is not the case); someone please tell me otherwise.

I understand that they probably get a lot of emails and are busy running this site but come on, even if they can't reply in full a short reply to say they have received my enquiry and will get back to me in due course would suffice.

Maybe waiting three weeks for a response is not enough time, maybe I should be more generous with their response time. Can I expect a reply any time in the near future or am I just expecting far too much?

Rant over....sorry guys and girls.

Quite often not where other photo mags are concerned or after a great deal of time and frequent written prods. Will be interested to know. My own experiences were a "don't understand the question" and then after pushing them further, "maybe you've bought the wrong type of mag". Still waiting for a technical reply from another mag. Good luck.

I email them and usually get a response within an hour. Are you sure you emailed the correct person ?

It wasn't difficult to answer; all I asked was if it is possible to use selected articles/reviews etc from Photoradar, with permission from the editor and/or copyright holders, on my website. I take copyright seriously so everything would be properly attributed to Photoradar and/or the authors.

I emailed the senior editor Marcus Hawkins. Maybe he is away on holiday but I didn't get an [B]out of office /B] reply if he is. Maybe he didn't get the message (twice). Maybe I need to ask the magazine editors as well.

I would very much like to hear from them regarding my request.

Try posting this in the mag section or email Amy, she was more than helpful when I mailed her.

Hi Chris,

I've just spoken to Marcus and he has no record of it, apologies but it appears to have got lost somewhere along the way.

If you could resend your mail to me or to the photoradar@futurenet.com email address I'll make sure it gets answered soon,

Thanks,

Amy

When in doubt, use the old technology and PHONE! The black hole of emails seems never-ending . . .

PS: Copyright is not such a simple thing. The question of copyright is a very grey area - you say you want to use 'selected articles/reviews' and that you would attribute everything correctly, but PR/DCM did all the work initially and paid the contributors/writers. Are you prepared to use the articles without paying the copyright? My guess is that the answer from PR would be no - they are probably inundated with requests to have articles etc on external websites. The point of having a website is to get clicks on it. That is what draws in the advertisers (which at the end of the day pays for the website/staff to exist). Perhaps they will allow you the use of a link to an article on PR, rather than the article itself.
The issue of who is the copyright owner is another grey area - is it the website or magazine or the person who wrote the article/review? Does the website/magazine hold the copyright because they commissioned the article/review or does the author hold copyright? Do you see where I am going with this @ kerchi? And let's not even get into intellectual property rights. Copyright infringement is a very, very serious issue. I speak from 20+ years of experience in the (traditional) publishing industry.
Regards, Denise

Amy, I have just sent a copy of the email to you from the contacts page. I hope you receive it and pass the message on to Mr Hawkins.

I certainly do not wish to cause any problems, especially regarding Stormsong's post about copyright as it sounds like a very complicated matter indeed, so if it turns out that it would be impossible it's not a problem and I thank you for your valuable time.

I would, however, very much like to be able to work closer with Photoradar for the wiki website.
