Nikon Primes

Can anyone tell me if there's any decent 3rd party prime lenses for Nikons out there?

I have my eye on the Nikkor 35mm AF-S DX but I was wondering if there's anything comparable and cheaper?

I realise it's a cheap lens anyway but I'm on quite a tight budget.

Why not trythe Nikon 50mmf1.8. At around £105/110 it is a great lens.

I assume you picked this lens because you need a focus motor built into the lens, if you don't then the Nikon 50mm F1.8 would save you fifty quid. On cameras like the D40/D60 it will work but manual focus only.

Basically, no. The Nikkor AF-S 35mm f/1.8 looks to be the cheapest autofocus prime lens on camera bodies with no focus motor. The 3rd party lenses start at £245 for a Sigma 50mm f/2.8 macro. I see the Nikkor go for around £130 on ebay, so if you're on a budget, it might be looking there.

This is the only draw back with models like the D3000/D3100/D5000. Although cheaper than something like a D90, you end up having to pay a premium for AF-S lenses as the cheaper/older AF-D won't autofocus.

Oh Right, sorry. My son has the D5000 and the 50mm and has a great deal of difficulty focussing it properly.
