No Julip you are not being a numpty lol - there is no mention of the 'basics' in the rules as they stand at this time. Mark (Cutter) obviously reads the rules as often as he does his camera manual which in a word is never.

After posting this I shall add a second paragraph to rule 3 clarifying this issue.

We have a convention in this house that we don't post pictures on the web in which we are recognisable. I've just searched my name on google and facebook (many friends are addicted to it, apparently), and although there are a few references to my un-noteworthy time as a musician I couldn't find any pictures. That said I know there are a few very old (and deathly sad) ones out there somewhere on a record company site

Anyway, although I shall not be taking part, I am very much looking forward to seeing what the rest of you come up with.
sorry you wont be entering H,But I havnt got a clue what you mean though, its not a self potrait

Sorry not to be clear - really the only subjects I would have to hand would be my immensely fabulous wife or my daughter.

Of course, if I could find the cat . . .

Hi H,
If the cat has gone mousing you could always stick your hand in a sock or dig out some kind of a glove puppet which is what I will probably have to do if I manage to find time this weekend.

I’m not sure you are going to get an entry from me Mark, I haven’t got anybody here who is willing to have their picture on the tinternet. I could probably rope my nephew or niece to having a go but seeing them this weekend is not on the agenda.

I will try my best for something, but not hopeful

My wife is my only grudging model but did a couple of quick test shots tonight and think I have something to work with. This is really pushing the boundaries of my abilities as I haven't yet learned enough about light and how to use it! Thank goodness someone loaned me their "nifty fifty" - I'm already impressed by how much light it manages to gather. Not sure how they will manage without it....

It's on my christmas list along with a flash, battery grip and an external hard drive. RAW files really eat up disk space!!
