Weekly Editing Challenge – End 1st November

OK so my second go at this, and just to celebrate I have loaded 2 images for this week.

You may copy and store my entered image. You may also store any edited versions that you create.

Feel free to edit either or both images in any way you see fit. Replace the background or add components or combine with your own images. But Please do not use any image you do not own.

I will pick the top 3 places next Monday Evening. Nov 1st

Please enter as many times as you wish, and please comment on how you edited the image and what you think of others. This is a fun challenge and constant feedback and critique is encouraged.

If you win you may run the next challenge. You can also change the rules if you wish. I would ask that you provide an image to edit if you win. I will hold a few in reserve if anyone is stuck.

If you click on the image you should get the full size version to download. Don’t forget 5mb upload limit.

Ok, so in the hope that Cutter will be selecting first, second and third I decided that I may as well have a go this week.

I tried to create a 3d effect, firstly I cut out the image (quickly with magic wand) I may have been better to do it more carefully but time did not allow. Had to clean the edges with the eraser tool zoomed in on image and used soft edge eraser at 10 pixels. Cut to a second layer. Turned first layer black, again using eraser with black background. Used Edit Transform Perspective to add the perspective to the dragon. Then used Filter Render Lighting effects to add spotlight to the dragon. Tweaked colour and levels then added border and merged visible levels. It nearly worked.

i found it hard to take the background away that was in side the mesh of the wings.i tried colour range all

selections types channel masking in the end i did a simple selection and cloned out the bits where you could see

the background in wings.....anyone else have trouble on this i would like to here your techniques on how u did it

the main background was a photo i did time ago of a sunset.i added two types of fog one white one a purple mist.I added reflections in the water.Used puppet warp to change the tails of the dragons.Sat and hue to change colour of them.

Thanks Bodsao, I will do the 123 if thats ok. will have ago again this week if time allows, although it will be difficult to top the 2 entries so far. Puppet warp ARNIE !!!! must be CS5, you must be loaded

So much to learn but its great when you get something at the end you are pleased with.
I am using Lynda.com to help me use CS4

I use that sometimes...you tube is good to you suck at photoshop is funny but learns you which is good
