Rich and poor

The world has divided into rich and poor as at no time in our history.

The richest two percent own more than half the household wealth in the world.

The richest ten percent hold 85 percent of total global assets. And the bottom half of humanity owns less than one percent of the wealth in the world.

The three richest men in the world have more money than the poorest forty-eight countries.

A perceptive view on not just today's situation, but a comment on how it has always been.

Devil's advocate time....... the world's three richest men probably had a better business idea than anybody in those 48 poor countries.

Really?

What a great example of the attitude this photograph is designed to represent.

More likey that the richest 3 made use of the cheap labour in the poorest 48 countries, sold arms that slaughter people in those 48 countries or bought off the politicians of those 48 countries to rape their natural resources.

That's pretty much how the world works. Great Photo by the way, Jim lol

Can't really agree about the selling of arms, but the cheap labour is probably right.... and a 'better business idea' may not necessarily be ecologically, environmentally, socially or morally sound...... hey, I'm not in favour of it - just telling it like it is.

Another fine image and portrayal of today's society Jim.

On a similar vein, but different topic (if you follow me!), a few months ago I was taking some shots of The Royal Crescent in Bath. I love Bath for it's architecture - but the words of a TV presenter keep ringing in my ears whenever I'm there.
'The splendour and grandeur of Bath with all it's fineries. Where the rich lived in luxury just out of sight of the slave trade in Bath that bought them their wealth'

Avoiding getting involved in a long discussion of the dissemination of wealth...

Excellent work as usual Jim Very well juxtaposed.
