Amy it's not the fact of whether or not you would use an image without "our" permission it's the fact by posting a pic in the gallery it all but in the togs name becomes the property of FUTURE, perpetual rights in any future mag that FUTURE publishes surely this from a magazine dedicated to photography is not really fair to it's core audience i.e. the photographer. After all if an image is posted on any of the "stock image" sights future would have to pay for use of that image....ok the tog pays a commssion percentage to the stock site for hosting his/her images etc but at least he/she gets something for it, maybe FUTURE should consider the same, "If your image is used by Future publishing you will be paid £x.xx for it's use" I just think the way this is at the moment it smacks of virtually stealing somebodys work, after all if you had a mechanic mate give your car a service you'd at least buy them a beer wouldn't you.....I'm not talking about paying a tog bundles and bundles of dosh, just some recognition for their hard work.... And until the matter is 100% clarified, I for one will not be posting in the gallery which is a shame for me as when it was DC and I posted and needed some help/advice for a shot I was overwhelmed with the kindness of complete strangers offering said help/advice and indeed constructive criticism...... now I feel that that has been taken away from, I wonder how many others feel the same......
BD Maybe I'll see you on Flickr

Seeing the same old names and faces popping up in the forums, having a go at the team! Nice to see we have learnt patience and understanding over the years! Its a new site people - give it a chance and give it a go, if you don't want to then ****** off elsewhere and take your sarky comments and put downs with you! Go take some pictures guys - isn't that what photography is all about!

mmm an open forum area to discuss things that are annoying you and someone is annoyed by other peoples annoyance ironic really

WAMT was actually yesterday, went and bought the Kings of Leon cd from my local Asda at lunchtime, went to put it in the cd player to listen to it on the way home and the case was empty....so had to go back to Asda and get a replacement luckily as I am in there virtually every day (I work about 100 yards away from it) they kind of know me in there, they exchanged it without any fuss at all. It's not the fact that there was no cd in the case as that wasn't Asda's fault it's just the extra time added on to my day I could have done without .....And discovering today that VIRGIN MEDIA e-mail system is down, despite checking last night and their "customer zone" telling me there were no reported problems...I shall be phoning them tonight and asking for a credit on my bill seeing as I am only getting half a service I don't think I should be expected to pay full price

Hacked off hanging around for 3 hours while the sensor was cleaned after it got something on it which appears similar to silicone, a clear liquid which didn't show up when the camera was pointed at the sky f/32, but did show at 3X Macro and f/14 The cleaning guy said he could see it, but really struggled to get it off. In the ned he said he thought 99% of it was gone, but that the proof would be in the photography. Not the first time he's seen it so it could be on other proples sensors and they're not aware of it.

He did give some useful advice though - dirt on the sensor doesn't come from changing lenses - it comes from the wearing of the moving parts inside the camera and from people who put the dust cap on the camera body after carrying it round in their pockets!

I store and transport my body and lenses separately. When I put a lens on the body I attach the body cap to the rear lens cap and put them in my pocket or bag.

Guilty as charged...

That's a thought though rain tends to reduce dust / pollen etc so as long as you're not getting rain into the camera its probably O.K.

(Note, I'm not suggesting that anyone try this, its only a hypothetical idea)

What annoyed me?

I was out trimming the hedge this afternoon and I disturbed a group of what looked like wasps. Most of them ignored me except one which got caught in my hair and stung me on the scalp when it couldn't escape. Boy did that hurt
