Thumbs down What Annoyed you today

This is what annoyed me today

"If you upload, post or otherwise transmit any Content to the Website, you automatically: (a) grant other users of the Website and the Website Service the right to access the same and use it in accordance with these Terms, and (b) grant Future and its group companies a non-exclusive, royalty free, sub-licensable, perpetual, world-wide licence to use, modify, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such Content: (i) on and through the Website and the Website Service; and (ii) in any other form or medium (including but not limited to other Future publications) provided that We have obtained your prior permission to do so. You continue to own the Content after it is posted to the Website."

I was going to post a piccy of my God-Daughters new baby (partly for some advice on what to to with it from an editing point of view) However as she is my God Daughters Daughter, I don't have her permission to post a piccy of her baby so I cannot post a piccy to get some help (even though it's probably nowhere near good enough quality for Future to ever use) as there is no way I can get permission as the photos are going to be a surprise present for her....How many of the forum users have read the T&Cs re putting their work in the gallery just to grant Future royalty free perpetual use of your shot and woopdy doo you continue to own the content.....c'mon DCMAG play fair....

Now will I be banned or "warned" for this little tirade......there are other forums out there....if I do get banned I'll go and join Jonathan Ryan on Flickr

You're very brave, Krennon, for starting such a thread. I was planning to start a similar thread on the very last day of August, providing there had been no feedback about the bugs and fixes for this site. The subject of the thread was also going to be one we've been warned about. I was also well aware of what consequences awaited me.

That's been scuppered.

WAMT?
Er... the lack of feedback about bugs and fixes was going to be here, but that's also been scuppered. So it's going to be a general wamt, and that's customers spending an hour deliberating over one t-shirt that's reduced in price, before putting the t-shirt back and walking out. £3.99, from £19.99...! C'mon!

To clarify again, Future would not take or use your image without your permission. We realise this may not be 100% clear in the terms and conditions, and we are currently working on amending the t&cs to make things a bit clearer based on the feedback we have received - as quoted from Marcus in the list of bugs and updates from yesterday.

T&C
Q. Will you be making your website terms clearer?
A. Yes. We will clarify some of the points you have raised in the site T&C before it goes live.

To read more of the updates, click here to be taken to the forum thread in which it appears.

Thanks,

Amy

Hi Amy.

Thanks for the stock reply. In case you weren't aware, there's an identical thread like this on DCM, where people can post their daily gripes etc. It's strangely theraputic being able to voice complaints and gripes.

In the DCM version, there was really no need for feedback from the admin. In most cases, the annoyances voiced were things that posters came ito contact with on a daily basis, outside of the DCM forums.

As you've addressed me on this occasion though, might I point out that I'm in no hurry to use the gallery software on this place? The Flickr galleries suit me fine. They're navigable and basically do what they say "on the tin".

Thanks.

Dave.

Looks like the thread I've linked to with my signature.

Upgraded my TV card to Digital on the Computer and it is a bit jerky as it was originally a shared ariel with the main TV I decided to have a dedicated one for the computer. £40 pound later and having destroyed a couple of cheap (not by choice) made in China components with little help from me it is no better, Fume........................

Ok, I know we don't always make reference to another post within this thread - but I'm bemused by this post - any elaboration to help understanding is welcome.
