Why Is It Impossible To Candel A Subscription?

I've been a subscriber to DCM for many years but although I still like the magazine, financially I need to make some cut backs and so I've been trying to cancel my subscription.

With each subscription issue of DCM there's a address sheet which lists your subscription number and a big advert saying that you can now manage your subscription online with a link to www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/youraccount. "Manage Your Subscription" suggests to me just that. But apparently that's not correct. If you go to the address given and register for an account you can then indeed see your subscriptions, you can add another subscription, you can renew an existing subscription, you can even replace the magazine you are subscribing to which is all fab & groovy except that there is no option to cancel a subscription. Not only that but there appears to be no mention anywhere of how to cancel a subscription and as there's no search engine on the site you can't even search for cancellations. Future Publishing must publish the best magazines in the world that nobody would ever dream of canceling their subs for because even the FAQ's only talk about how to continue your sub.

In a last ditched attempt I used the Contact Us page and e-mailed them asking them to cancel my sub providing all the details they needed and so far I've heard........nothing, nadda, zip, zero.

I realise that I can also phone and it looks like that's what I'll end up having to do but I really shouldn't have to. If you provide a way of people managing their subscriptions it should also include the ability to cancel it and if you provide more than one way to be contacted then they should all work and be monitored!

Oliver, I had a good search around too, and couldn't find anything either. Pretty bad IMO.

it says here, http://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/terms-conditions/

"3. SUBSCRIPTION TERMS OF PURCHASE: The term of any magazine subscription ordered through myfavouritemagazines.co.uk is 12 months. Your subscription will start with the next available issue unless we agree otherwise. You may cancel your subscription within 60 days of purchase (the “Initial Period") provided you give us written notice. If you want to cancel your subscription within the Initial Period you must write to us at Future Publishing Limited, 10 Waterside Way, Northampton, NN4 7XD supplying your name, address, subscription number (if possible) and the magazine name. If we receive your written notice within the Initial Period we will refund you for all unmailed issues of the magazine. We will only cancel subscriptions within the Initial Period."

The last line is a bit worrying.

So it sounds like you can only prevent a renewal...?

Unless you pay by Direct Debit - which, if you cancel it, should cancel the sub as they won't receive any money. I've done this with other mag subs in the past with no probs.

If you've paid for the year though by debit/credit card, it looks like you'll have to keep receiving it...

Apologies you have had problems contacting us/and or finding details of how to cancel, I have forwarded this to the www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk manager to address.

Once you are out of the minimum terms detailed in the offer you accepted please use the email address: contact@myfavouritemagazines.co.uk to advise of a Direct Debit cancellation placed at your bank.

Kind Regards
