Some people probably held off until there was something that they wanted. Besides, would you not be upset if someone said they would give you something and you never got it?

Re Gifts

In response to the last post on my thread.

The decision to subscribe to a certain magazine does not depend on a gift offered. I have been buying Photoplus myself for many months since i bought my Canon 7D. The decision to subscribe is purly for the ease of having this magazine sent straight to my door.

I find the magazine very informative and am able to keep up to date with new gear being released for Canon photographers. I also used the magazine for research before i made the decision to upgrade my old Pentax Digital SLR to a Canon 7D.

So, therefore it has nothing to do with a free gift. I love the magazine for what it is ------ just for Canon users

Thanks.

Michael

For you, yes. But as donoreo said, for 'some' people the gift as an added extra is what it takes for them to pay in advance for a magazine instead of picking it up at the shop.

I too would buy the magazine Photoplus from my local newsagent, but when the offer of an Arctic Butterfly was advertised I took on a subscription. I would have carried on buying the mag whenever I remembered the next issue was available, but sometimes they were sold out of the current issue by the time I made it to the newsagent that month.
It suited me to subscribe when I did, and I guess it suited Future Publishing to have a guaranteed subscriber.

Gift

Just to let you all know that the Hahnel remote finally arrived today only 3 months after it should have.

Thanks Carly or Verity, if you had anything to do with the arrival.

Yes, actually I have to admit I once got a free gift that was attached to the AP mag probably 20 years ago now. It was one of those lipstick type lens brushes. I still use it to this day and it is still in virtually mint condition.

I wasn't referring to any particular magazine Carly. It's just my own experience in the past has led me to wonder why I bothered being sucked in by the hype of free gifts. I'm sure your free gifts are all worth a bob or two though...

Folks,

When i first posted this thread i got a good response from the team. I was offered the Serif software and was told it had been organised that it would be sent to me. I have now found out this week that it is now out of stock and i will not be recieving the free gift. Have been offered a replacement gift but an e-mail to confirm this other offer has not been answered.

Becoming very frustrated now

Michael
