Hello from Hampshire

Hello,

I'm a new member and thought I should introduce myself properly so...

My name is Julia, I have an Olympus E-510 that I have been using for about 2 and a half years. Before that I had a compact which was the first camera I had ever bought. I have loved both of these camers for many years but am now looking to upgrade again.

I take an eclectic mix of photos, I really like macro, especially of insects and flowers and things but I also take pictures for friends, usually at equine events. I am a complete wuss when it comes to taking candid shots although I love the results of other peoples shots! I am known for trying to take a picture of pretty much anything....which is not always that popular and my photography friends find my chronic chimping amusing!

I am mostly here to learn and chat about cameras to people who don't glaze over after 5 minutes. It looks like a very helpful site so far and I am pleased to join in finally

Julip

Hi Julia,

Welcome to the forum. My first DSLR was the Olympus E-510 too and I found it a fun camera to use, especially as I had many adapters and a ridiculous amount of old glass lenses to use on it. Like you, if I start talking to my friends and family about cameras, they tend to glaze over, so its nice to chat to people who do enjoy them.

Hi amk1977,

Thanks its good to hear from another E-510 user! I have learnt so much from mine and ended up buying old lenses from a friend who upgraded all of his too! Do you mind me asking what you moved to from the 510? I'm seriously looking to upgrade and am umming and ahhhhing a lot about it!
