Question blue outline

Hi, im new to DSLR photography, when i take photos of say birds with the sky behind them , i seem to get a blue outline around the subject, what am i doing wrong, i used a 300mm lens with a 2x converter at 1/400 shutter F11 ISO 200, help,

the blue outline sounds like lens fringing or chromatic aboration as it's known because of the contrast difference between the sky and the subject
it could be down to the lens / converter combination

Agree with Cosmicma. It definitely sounds like chromatic abberation. You should be able to correct it in post processing with photoshop or simialr software.

Thanks very much, i have used the lens without the 2x converter and it does seem better, i dont have photoshop but i do have the free programme Gimp, i will try to improve the images with that. again thanks for the info
