I just got a photbook from CeWe for my wife's Xmas pressie, very impressed & ability to design specifically how you want rather than fit in with the company's templates.

Also had good quality from Blurb & my Photobox book was good too, but I'd perhaps want to go a bit more upmarket with a wedding album

Just before Christmas, the paper had an offer of a free photobook (just pay postage) from Albelli (.co.uk). Tried it and am very pleased with the result, but as it is my first ever photobook, I don't know how it compares with others.

You can use the 'simple' online layout, or the more sophisticated one, where you can play around with the contents. I used the latter.

I have discovered a few things I would do different/better next time, so it may be an idea to do one for yourself, before you go for an 'official' book.

One of the things I wanted to find out, before I do a book as a present, or (if I ever get that lucky!) if someone wants to buy one, was whether the printer puts his name on the finished product.(Albelli does a modest logo on the back page, and I suppose they all do.)

If you do one for yourself or good friends, you may want to go for a supermarket brand, but if you want to do something posh, or for resale, you would not want the name of a supermarket on the book.

There are a couple where you can pay a few quid extra & they will print without their logo. I know CeWe do that & I think Photobox too

You can have Blurb logo free books too - at a price of course. I left the logo on mine as I thought it might encourage people to look for it in Blurb's site (and maybe buy one, nice thought...)

I would not mind the logo of a 'proper' ie a photographic firm, but a 'value' supermarket logo could give the 'wrong' (cheap) impression. No matter how careful the book was put together by the author and printing firm.

Hmmm ... sounds very snobbish, doesn't it?

Recently had one from Albelli and was very impressed. Have used several others, Bonus Print, Truprint and Tesco and the Albelli was by far the best quality. There are often offers on where you only pay the P&P.

Albelli use HP Indigo 7000 commercial printers which are top of the tree in digital commercial printing. Some of the others farm out to lesser quality printers - Blurb are printed on Indigos too
