Hi again,

There have been so many discussions on here about this, its really interesting seeing everyone's point of view! I did eventually upgrade to a Canon 60D after spending 3 1/2 hours in Park Cameras playing! I went for that one because in the end it fitted my hand best and can do all the things I need it to do well enough to keep me learning for a good long while I hope! Thanks to everyone for your input, i hope to get myself in gear regarding getting photos up on here and flikr and stuff so perhaps at some not too distant point you can see what I'm doing with my new kit!

Thanks again,

Julia

Thanks HinFrance..... not major financial problems - I just have other things I'd rather spend money on - I've just got a set of cartridges and some paper for my printer (far more expensive than you'd think, though I've found a very reasonable supplier now); Then there's a lens I'm saving for (which is nearly the price of that Sony a580) and I'm determined to get Lightroom soon. Meanwhile, my partner allowed a virus onto her laptop and that's a big one that will need money to repair.... all kinds of things get in the way of (my) progress!

Congrats on your purchase Julia, now get out there and take loads of pictures. You are now officially Canon fodder

Geoff, I know what you mean; our 4x4 cost us just shy of €5000 in repairs last year, before we managed to sell it back to a dealer when it broke down again - we're sticking to proper cars from now on.

Congratulations on your new purchase.

I'm sure that it's lovely.

Apart from that bit above the lens which says "Canon" in white letters anyway...
