Question Submission letters

Hi

Does anyone know where I can get a letter template for submitting photos. for example sending with photos you are submitting to a magazine or newspaper.I have had a few photos printed, but I now want to go part time freelance, and would like to try and get some sort of payment.

You could look at the BFP (Bureau of Freelance Photographers). For a membership fee, you can get all the magazine, newspapers, image library etc contact information. I've not seen a template letter though - I sell mine through Alamy which tends to be more for editorial use but they make the images available, a publisher searches and buys the relevant image. There seem to be more and more 'turning pro' mags these days so maybe browse the WH Smith shelves...

I've just posted in your other thread.

Some of my images have been bought via Alamy, which makes it really easy as they handle invoicing etc.

For those sent direct to publications, I've usually sent an intro email but more of a 'did you know XYZ happened at ABC at the weekend? here are some images blah blah blah'.

This has led to some being published - now, I either agree a fee before publication or, for more deadline conscious newspapers, check the paper and if they've published, send them an invoice for image use. They usually just get paid.

Good luck!!
