Visit to Northern Ireland

Hi All!
Not too shure if this is the right place, but I'll try it anyways!

I'm planning a Photoexcursion to Northern Ireland, and this way is seeking information and hints as where to go for a really stunning photosession.

I will - of course - be planning a visit to the Giant's Causeway, but at what time of the day, or for that matter, what time of the Year should I visit the spot?

My plan is to come on a short visit to the island, just me and my gear, where I'll try and get as much done in terms of photgraphy, and then return on a later date with my wife, where the trip will be more on her terms.
She's suffering from MS, and therefor cannot participate in those wild things as to sit in the early mornings, just to await the sunrise, or for that matter, a similar wait in the evening to see the sun setting behind some fabulous castle ruins.

But given these guidelines, when shall I visit, where shall I go, and is anyone perhaps willing to show me the spots?

I am shamelessly counting on Your help in planning what will be the Photoshoot for a lifetime! :-))

Kind Regards
Claus D.

Thanks to Ether for his link to Flickr. Funny that I didn't think of that... well can't win'em all.

As to the part of consuming more or less copious amounts of alcoholic beverages, I will certainly give it a taste. :-)

Hi ClausD
The giants causeway is the place everyone visits and most people take the same shots there
It can get crowded with tourists depending on what time of the year you are going
There are lots of stunning places along the north antrim coast
I suppose it depends on where you will be staying as to what areas I can suggest for you

I could meet up with you for a days shoot near the northcoast if that is the direction you are planning to go
I live just over the border in Inishowen Co Donegal which is a great spot also for landscape photography
Anyhow let me know where you plan to go and I will give you some spots

Cathal

PS have a look at my friends website who photographs mostly around the north antrim coast

@Cathal: I haven't planned anything yet, as I would like to get some inside ideas as where to stay, where to go and so on.
Sure thing that the causeway is the thing among photographers, and no doubt I shall have a shot or two there as well. My idea is to get there around sunrise or sunset, when it hopefully is most deserted, to get som great shots. But my main interest is the northern region, preferable some great coastline with some ruins, or whatever You would recommend. Thats why I think of someone familiar with the region to show me some of the sweet spots. I would very much like to contact You and take you up on your offer about roaming the countryside for some nice photoops.

Claus

PS: Great pics from your buddy! It seems as he like to be out at the same hours that I do. :-)

You can see some of my shots here: http://www.phosee.dk/user/427-clausd
