Has anyone had a hi-res request??

Same here. The shot I had short-listed for travel, I've had a second request for a hi-res despite uploadiing it the other day. I think it must be a glitch?

I can only see a link to shortlisted landscapes at the moment Karen- where is the travel shortlist? I cannot see any other categories yet. I only entered landscapes section but be good to see the rest too.

Cheers Karen. Can see the link from the comp page but not on here. Something funny there as i can only see the first 5 images and not slide along - might be some issues with my broadband as a few things are awry this morning.

First of all, congratulations to all those who made it to the short list. I think the selection team has done a real superb job...I know your job must be really difficult! I was however just wondering if there are any others there like me who had a request for a Hires image but did not make it to the short list....or am I the only one out there...any idea what percentage of the pre-selection images made it?

Hi there,

You weren't the only to receive a hi-res request and not make it through.

The email is sent out by the automated emailing system as the judges are indicating interest on any of the photos. As you can imagine, lots of photos make it through to the "longlist", and only a percentage of these will then be placed on the shortlist, unfortunately.

Thanks Amy.... just a suggestion...but maybe you could have a "Longlist selection" featured in the future...you know...after all the judges did evince some interest in the images...to make it to any list in a competition such as this would be a real morale booster...

Thanks for the suggestion - we'll certainly bear it in mind, but consider that there were over 300 images on the shortlist, so a longlist would be a LOT to look through! ;-)

Thanks Amy...there are only about 35 images shortlisted in each category...and you wouldn't believe the speed at which one can go through those images...I feel a few more images wouldn't make much of a difference...so for the cause of good photography and the feeling of encouragement that a wider spectrum of photographers would have...please give it some serious thought...
