Canon ef 28-300mm

Has anyone got the Canon ef 28-300mm lens and is it any good? I have a Sigma 28-300 but the price difference between these two is huge! I want a decent lens to take to events so I don't have to swap and change lenses all the time. I just sold my canon 100-400mm and feel like investing in the 28-300. Will I get noticeable picture quality differences compared to my Sigma?

There's a few reviews here:

While it's probably a fair bit better than the Sigma (at 8x the price it had best be), I think I'd prefer a 24-105L + 70-300L combo for about the same price, possibly using 2 bodies if changing lenses is a major issue.

Hey there, I didn't think the 70-300mm is available yet? Have I missed a trick?
I also don't know anyone who has the 28-300mm L lens. Tempting to have all range in one lens. Assume it does NOT take the 1.4x extender?
Same question for the 70-300mm - is it compatible with the extender?
