Cankon have until you have sold several limbs to move well up the product range.

How true .I love my camera a 50 d but it does lack those features that with more experience I would have found useful

Unfortunately typically with canon they work on infra red triggering .Also a preflash is sent out for metering prior to the actual exposure .It's so fast you don't see it .For that reason these optical devices won't sync between guns as far as I have found .Have to have at least one 580 flash gun and a compatible canon flash as the slave .

I've a D90 and just purchased the Hahnel Wireless combi flash to use off camera. Unfortunatly I donr have a compatabble flashgun (Sunpak) I'm looking to get a Metz, do they all have manual mode? or what the 58 like?

I have the Metz 58 which can be used as a slave flash in commander mode on the D90. There is a new improved versoin out now. Have a look below to see if its what you want.
