OK, Where's the Blogs gone?

I may be new, but I'm sure there was a Blogs menu pick, now it's gone...

Has it permanently gone?

Phil

Dunno, but I see what you are saying, there used to be a blogs link on the main menu.

If you look to your right of the page while reading this, under heading, Photoradar Highlights, the bottom one is Blogs. Seems to point to news pages though.

Phil,

I do apologise. It was there when I posted my reply to you, but now it has gone. I wish the admin staff would reply to the post instead of reading the post and just turning things on and off to suite the situation.

Makes our job kind of impossible.

My guess is that they are waiting on the official wording for the statement.

My guess is that they couldn't find the time to keep adding to it and therefore have removed it. The fact that not many people seem to be interested kind of justifies it I suppose....

Hi everyone,

You're right, we decided to remove the blogs landing page as much of the content was ending up as news anyway (for instance interviews with photographers etc). Sorry that various old references to the blogs disappeared slowly and not all at once, this was due to the site being updated at different times with new updates to remove any of the references.

With Photokina this week, and POTY ending last week, it's been a pretty hectic few days in the office as you can imagine, so apologies for not responding to this thread earlier.

We're slowly but surely bringing all of the most interesting and most viewed blogs into the news page as well as continuing to add new blog-like posts to the news section as and where necessary.

Hope that explains everything, and if you have any questions please do let me know.

Thanks,

Amy

Amy,
Thanks for the update, my original post was to hi-lite the fact it was missing in case it had been an error in programming somewhere.
Personaly I'd still like to see the blogs - news is news, new camera's, lenses, events etc. The blogs are (could be) more about what you have been doing, what's coming up in the magazine / discs, rumours and speculation, etc.

Hi Phil,

That's the kind of stuff that was ending up in news anyway, so there seemed little point in keeping both open. We've done lots of rumours, lots of news about upcoming magazines, fun bits, the week in pictures and so on. We tended to place them in "news" as it's generally been timely information, i.e. a rumour about a new camera coming out. As more people visit the news section, it seemed a shame to hide away some of our best content in the blogs section. As time goes on we may introduce a "news in depth" or "opinion" section, depending on user feedback. Thanks for your comments though, definitely worth bearing in mind that you like that kind of thing.

Thanks,

Amy

Amy, there is still a link to the blog RSS feeds under the RSS link between Forums and Shopping.
