Canon L 70-200 F4 - views re this lens and alternatives (want some macro too)

Hi guys - I have a 7D and the Canon 15-85. I am looking for a telephoto and consider the Canon L series 70-200 F4. I have a budget of £500 and would like the best of both worlds in that ideally I would like the zoom to take candid pics of family and to be able to pick out details when shooting landscapes - I'd also like to do a bit of Macro.

Would this lens be a good choice or do you have any othe recs
