Needs help with a photography project!

I would like to find other photographers in my area to learn off but haven got all the time in the world to find them plus im a wee bit shy when it comes to that stuff!

SO I wanted to try out a Photographers Social Network idea where you can host images and discuss photography related stuff with other like minded individuals local to myself...

so I've created a UK site (at the moment) and want to know if anybody wants to test it with me and tell me what they think? good or bad,

If you want to get involved just ask!

I just want to be able find some people to head to where ever who want to take photos too!
as I have no photography friends!!

Couple of suggestions..... you don't say where you are, but have you tried looking at Flickr to see if there's a group in your town/city/county.... many of them are active - some meet up regularly.

Secondly, have you checked out whether there's a camera/photographic club in your vicinity? Competitions, discussions, seminars, presentations, studio and location sessions etc.

And you'll have noticed that there are many Forums etc on the web where people sometimes group together in regions for meet-ups. So you've now put your own site together ..... good. But you can't expect people from all over the country to go to meetings - you have to regionalise it.

So.... tell us where are you and perhaps people will decide to get together.

"you don't say where you are" didnt know it was important at this stage! - Flickr I dont like Flickr it was such a pain Ive left my membership to rot! - "have you checked out whether there's a camera/photographic club in your vicinity?" oh yes so much so I set up a website to try and start one!! - Forums hmmm long story I run a massive forum and struggle to have time for that anymore Im in full time employment as a security guard...

"But you can't expect people from all over the country to go to meetings - you have to renationalise it."
Meets are not part of the site its like facebook for photographers just photographers....

djSupport (I'd call you by your name, but you seem unwilling to provide us with it)...

I, for one, will not sign up to a site without some sort of trial or tour, but that's exactly what photographyfriends seems to require. I can't see what personal info the site wants, or what it might cost me. I don't know who's running it (and the guy who say's he's running it is a bit shy, too). Is it a scam? I can't say I'm inquisitive enough to find out.

Chris (that's my name).

I tend to agree - I've never seen a website that wants a Login or Registration (without even a description of what's in the site) as its FIRST page.... I'm not suggesting there's anything devious about the site - just that it's not the right way to welcome people on your front page. T'internet, as wild as it can be, has established some unwritten rules over the years.

I don't jump into a swimming pool either, without checking how deep it is.
