Trimmer/Cutter

Since I am going to print some things at home, I want to get a decent cutter/trimmer. I did pick one up here but it was not very good and is going back ( http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...affixedcode=WW ).

Any recommendations on two things: type and brand? This one was a "slider" but is an "arm" type better? I want to keep it fairly small and I will not be cutting anything larger than 8x10.

Thanks.

Me again! (Your shopping guide!)...... Logan Graphics. They do all you need in tools for prints, mats etc. There are ten outlets in Toronto alone. More of an 'art shop' thing.

Anybody else interested in the subject can find outlets in their area - certainly UK/US/Canada..... I'd certainly recommend them. Their larger items often come with manual and DVD.

You are doing an excellent job as a shopping guide I would not be doing anything myself except cutting the photos. The problem with the one I bought was it does not have guide to show you where the cut will be. Rather annoying that is. It is also not the best cut, still had to pull it off to finish the cut.

I actually ended up getting this one: http://www.amazon.com/X-ACTO-Rotary-.../dp/B001DEIQ12 and it works really well, especially for the low price.

As an update, we have cut a few photos, the one I picked up works great. Nice clean cuts and it is easy to figure out where the "cut line" is.

Ah, I see..... yes, good kit. My own needs were for one that I could cut to much larger sizes, as well as making mats (mattes). My printer makes 17" wide prints (I hasten to add that I got it cheap, used and I still struggle to come up with the cash to get ink cartridges for it - but it's great when it works!)

If I need anything that large, I will get someone else to print it. I never plan cut and mount mats on my own.
