Question Photo stacking

I'm just starting out on the journey that is close-up photography and I ned some advice on Photo Stacking. Is it as good as I've heard? if so what softwhare do I use? I use Elements 8, can it be done in that.

Regards.

Spudphoto.

Photo stacking is excellent for increased DOF. CS4 & 5 will do this for you, not sure about Elements 8.
This however is not a problem as you can download CombineZM which is freeware.

I believe photo stacking is available in CS4 and CS5 - but only in the 'Extended' versions (so we're up considerably on the price). Elements cannot do it because it doesn't have Layer Alignment or Smart Objects.

I'd go with CombineZm, as above. I like free!

Another vote for CombineZM. I've used it briefly and it seemed to work pretty well. Yet to use it in anger though...

Returning to the use of CombineZP , I found it a great way of taking shots of close-up items eg dandelion heads etc with three shots stacked within minutes and seamless DOF

It's disguised spam - I've removed the link from the sig. I'm also tempted to delete the post as I suspect that the content doesn't belong to them.

I don't think it is relevant to this thread and for that reason alone should be removed,Thanks!

ps Just love the stacking by Cutter-well done! Looks like there is plenty of scope for a thread on this subject.
