If you are using an adblocker, disable it.

You're going to have to give a lot more information to get some help.

Firstly, as Don already said, disable any pop up blockers for the site. What browser are you using? There were known issues with Chrome - I don't know if they still exist. All the videos are stored on this site...

I have had the same issue for quite some time. I have win 7, have tried internet explorer, chrome, firefox and opera with the same results. This is the ONLY site that I have a problem on so I don't believe it's a configuration issue on my end. Everytime a new video is posted I see people post that they seem to be having problems watching the video but it never gets addressed.

Hi smash125,

Thanks for your post, and you're right some people do seem to have problems playing the video. But time and time again we have tried to replicate the problem both in the office and on our home computers and we never can.

Do you have an adblocker installed on your machine? Adblockers believe our videos to be adverts and prevent them from playing.

I can only apologise if you don't, and rest assured we are trying to find out why it doesn't work for some people but without being able to replicate the error ourselves it's very difficult.

Thanks,

Amy

Rather than getting everyone to disable their adblockers, have you considered altering how you deliver the videos? A process of elimination shows me that the following Adblockplus filters are responsible for blocking them in my browser:

*.2mdn.net/*
|http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/*

What are those services being used for and are they essential to the delivery?

Hi ap4a,

I'm afraid that technically using adblockers is against our terms and conditions anyway:

You agree that when using the Website Service you will comply with all Applicable Laws (as defined in paragraph 3), these Terms and you acknowledge that you are responsible for all acts and omissions which occur under your user-name. In particular, but without limitation, you agree not to:

r. Remove or obstruct from view any advertisements and/or any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notices contained on or in the Website; or

You can read the full terms here: http://www.photoradar.com/terms-and-conditions

I'm not au fait with particular adblockplus filters, but that looks like it's blocking the Google ads, which are a part of the site. By agreeing to use the site and watch the videos, you agree to also view the adverts. If everybody blocked the adverts we wouldn't be able to run the site as we'd have no revenue I'm afraid

Hope that makes sense,

Thanks,

Amy

That's quite badly worded as technically no one is removing anything, the ads are still there and they're not being obscured from anyone else's view. Given that a lot of firewall software comes with inbuilt adblocking capability I'd question whether that's legally enforceable term as you can't make it a legal requirement for a user to remove or disable their security software.

The blocking of third party sites, including ad networks, is a requirement at my work as there's too much scope for malicious content to be introduced and they also have a resource impact on the network. So I won't be removing my adblocking software. If it's a requirement that I do then I'll have to say au revoir now.

Yes, I think you've got that wrong Amy - or been given a bum steer. The idea that somebody can tell me what I can and cannot block could be illegal in itself. I haven't had too many problems with the videos but the page loading while waiting for third-party advertising sites to fill content is starting to annoy.

Hi ap4a,

Perhaps you're right, the wording could be better, but it just means that unfortunately if you want to be able to watch the videos you'll probably have to accept the adverts along with it.

Obviously, nobody is going to be battering down your door to make sure you're not using an adblocker on the rest of the site, as I believe that the rest of it does indeed work fine with an adblocker installed, unless I'm mistaken?

Thanks,

Amy
