Canon Firmware Updates

Firmware updates are available for the following Canon cameras.

EOS 1D Mk IV >> new firmware version 1.08

EOS 7D >> new firmware version 1.22

EOS 550D >> new firmware version 1.08

I have not updated any firmware on my camera since buying it, is there much difference when you do ?

Depends what the firmware fixes. Sometimes it is an update to support new hardware like a new flash.

And sometimes, or so rumour has it, they sneak in other fixes which they alone know about and which are not published in the firmware release notes. Anyway, the latest batch of firmware updates don't concern your camera although this one might, depending on when you purchased it. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0904/09...areupdates.asp

Since posting that last link which indicated firmware version 1.0.6 was the latest for the Canon 50D I've noticed that in the meantime they've updated it yet again. The latest version is now 1.0.7 - so yes, you're a long way behind with your firmware updates.

Canon ususlly list key fixes and improvements with eac firmware update. Id recommend doing it periodically. Mind you some updates simply fix spelling mistakes i foreign langauage menus which you will never see the benefit of!!!
