I have never liked the "click and add a link" method of posting a pic. I MUCH before the "click and upload a pic" directly to the forum method.

I hang around a lot at dslreports and the custom forums they have there (written in Perl I believe) are far superior to anything else I have seen on the net.

I'm sure I posted this on here somewhere.

I seems a lot of peeps are still having problems posting images to these threads, even though there's loads of advice being offered.

I reckon the only way to combat this would be to actually show people how to do it.

Here's a very (yes very) rough tut on how to add a image to a post on here. Add image to post

Hope it works lol. give it a few seconds to load.

I guess if any of you have the spare time you could bang up something much better.

Good idea and a good job, I think it works well and is very clear.

OB, I think most people can manage to post images to forums in general, but it's posting from the PR galleries that throws them off course right from the start. And causes most of the problems.

You can't just right click a image to get the image address like most images on the web. The PR gallery throws a transparent gif image over the top of the images so when you get the address all you actually grab is a copy of a blank gif image.

This is supposedly done to stop people stealing the images, but IMO is a complete waste of time as we're telling people how to do this in every thread like this.

To be honest it would be better to remove the overlay, and actually add a image embed code under each image. I use this on my gallery (as you know) and I have to say it works well. Copy and paste, done.

Just my 2p's worth.

Thanks, hopefully someone will find it useful. And if it was added to the how to threads it people might even see it.

I agree, total waste of time if we are always telling people (or people telling me a couple of months ago!) how to do it. Then again it does just address yet another failing of the galleries.....

Hi everyone,

We've now included a link to both the FAQ and the posting images thread in the navigation at the bottom of the page - so these links will appear on every page from now on for quick access.

Hope that helps!

Thanks,

Amy

I get all the way to adding the address in the little box but i have no "OK" button on it to click on to finally get the image in the post?? could this be a server problem? i use Maxthon browser. Any advice greatly appreciated
