Removing a yellow cast

I feel dumb asking this , I know I've read it somewhere but;
How do you remove a yellow cast when there is no white patch to set a white point by?

If you shot in RAW you might be able to do it with white balance? Or you could use a custom gradient over the sky.

I'd have bet money you would be first to reply Chris - but I didn't think it would be quite that quick!!
It's a garden scene with no sky just undergrowth and a statue and steps. would your suggestion still apply and what colour gradient?

That leads me to ask how do I open a jpeg in RAW? I used to do it but must have forgotten how. That or the ACR I have doesn't support it.

Ha! Dunno why I assumed sky - I've just made that up off the top of my head!

You can set a custom gradient by using the eye dropper tool and selecting the different parts of the image. I've never done it on a garden scene.

You could still try opening the JPEG into ACR and playing with the white balance. Dunno what version of PS you've got but you could also try the channel mixer - that's usually pretty effective.

Crikey, you're keen!!

In CS3 you go to Edit>Preferences>File Handling and tick the "Prefer Adobe Camera Raw for JPEG files" option.
