SDHC Cards for compacts

I am thinking about getting a Canon Power Shot SX210 IS, as I want to take stills and movies, used mainly for holidays. I know it is a compromise but I only want one unit instead of a compact and a camcorder.

I know it can take the SDHC card, and I understand the size of the card as to capacity, but what card speed would I need as this is the part that is confusing me.

Many thanks.

Hi Diggy, welcome to the forum

For that camera it doesn't make any difference what speed SDHC card you buy.

People get really hung up on this and there is no point. Unless you've got a very very fast SLR you will never need a "high" speed card (and most use CF cards which are faster anyway).

In short, buy whatever is cheapest from a known brand.
