Lens Folder

I've just come across a rather useful new website.

LensFolder.com is a site which is designed for those times when lots of people have taken photos of the same event, perhaps a wedding or holiday. All users upload their photos to the same "folder" and then everyone can download full size copies for themselves rather than trying to e-mail them about or sending them on CDs or DVDs.

Interesting site Chris and a good way of file sharing . I registered and tried uploading but have had no success so far and also find logging on difficult. It's probably me, but I wonder if anyone else trying it has had similar problems? Thanks for sharing the info though.I'll persever as it overcomes the e mail file limit problem.

Hi Dagwood,

Tristan from LensFolder here - fancy dropping me an email at contact [at] lensfolder [dot] com to see what the issue is? Seems to be working fine for most people, but could be something wrong with our site for your computer etc.?

Thanks and glad you like the site!

Had another go and all worked ok. Guess it was me thinking it would be more difficult than it really is. I can see enormous potential here for sharing family pictures with offspring spread far and wide and busily increasing the earth's population!

Tristan, I still have a couple of issues which I'll post here in case others have the same:
1. When pictures are uploaded I thought it would be posssible to see them. If not I assume you have to download everything and then sort the wheat from the chaff. Is that correct? If so it could be a very hefty download!
2. When looking at the list of pictures uploaded, and following download by others, the delete option in Actions does not seem to allow you to delete say one or more pictures. Is this possible and if not do I assume you ignore that folder and await deletion by LensFolder?
Many thanks
Dagwood

Hi Dagwood,

With regards to 1, at the moment you can't see them, but that is something we're working to implement and should be up and running within the next couple of days. In the meantime, it might be worth asking anyone uploading to sort through their photos first so you don't get too many blurry shots of their fingers! I'll post here once that viewing is sorted.
With regards to 2, you can delete as many pictures as you want-if you click "Select", you can then choose as many as you want individually or click Select All to get them all. You can then use the Actions menu to delete the ticked photos.

Hope that helps and thank you for your continued comments, they're very helpful for us as well

Regards.

OK good news; we accelerated our plan to implement the ability to view the photos and so you should be able to do that now. Click on the photo you want to see and then click preview in the little window that appears.

Hope that works-let me know if you have any suggestions or questions!

Cheers.

Apologies Tristan, but an invasion of the in-laws meant brief visits to PhotoRadar and I missed your last 2 posts. Have tried with success the previewing, and will have a bash at the deletion again.
As you invited comments, one more:
With three separate groups involved in pictures taken over last week or two I tried to get 3 folders running at same time. I managed only two as I was informed that my e-mail addresses and passwords were already in use (i.e. I had to set up "accounts" with two different e-mail addresses). Is there some way I can get the root folders option to work in order that different groups can use them but with me using one e-mail address only and I guess one file and password?
Thanks for your help
Dagwood
