Can anyone recommend a good training guide for my Canon 50D

I have been very impressed with the feedback that I have had thus far from this forum. I am now looking for a training guide for my Canon 50D, now that I have the camera and played around with it, read some of the instruction, I realise what would help is a good DVD on how to get the very best out of my new toy. Can anyone point towards a suitable product.

Not exactly a DVD - though I'm sure there are some - but it's amazing what's on YouTube..... like this one and plenty of others.

Thanks for your comments, I have read the manual, which is very good, and I have looked at a couple of YouTube video's. I found in PhotoPlus Magazine an advert for Blue Crane Training DVDs at £19.99, anyone used these, if so, what do you think. Here.

Use it Really that is the best way. I cannot comment on any DVDs I have not used any myself. I am assuming you probably learn better visually rather than reading. You could probably get enough from free sources, since the features of the 50D do overlap with a few other camera and some things are common to all.

I agree the only way to get to terms with the 50D is to use it, but I bought the Blue Crane training DVD from RK Photigraphic and it is worth all the money that I paid.

I purchased a dvd for my Canon 450D, (don't think it was made by blue crane)
& it was basicly a run through guide of the manual!
Some points/tips have stuck in my head...& I thought I read the manual!!! i found it easier to pickup the tips & instructions on the dvd has it was showing how to to do it & what its for?

As with all the above...the best teacher is experience....you can read manuals, watch video tutorials until you have f-stops, focal lengths and shutter speeds coming out your ears, but nothing beats practical experience, it make you "one" with your camera, you know its limits and it knows yours...

I guess its like when you first learn to drive, you read all the practical stuff, but you cant get to grips and appreciate the skills involved until you get behind the wheel...a bit of a diversion but the sentiment is the same...

Smile Training

hi, I agree that using it is the best way to learn, photoplus articles are very usefull, also, Scott Kelby has produced some excellent photography books which are cheap and very instructive. The digital photography book, 1 and 2 ISBN 0-371-47404-x and ISBN -13:978-0-321-52476-8
