Capturing a moving target

I have a Fuji S5600 and while I save up for a dslr I need some tips for capturing moving targets. The camera has continuos auto focus and various different modes but I need some advise. The main target will be an Apache gunship at show I am going to next week and I would like to get some decent snaps, with some 'freezing' the rotors while it hovers.

I was a t a show recently .As were the keen aviation photographers .

I asked one how to get the propeller spin on a Dakota prop plane

1/320 th he said.

The moral being a lot of folk will know .He even knew shutter speeds for individual aircraft.

If you get no joy here then ask when you get there.

Otherwise just keep reviewing shots ,maybe work in shutter priority and keep changing it.

Thats the best answer. I've no idea how fast an Apache's blades spin but keep making the shutter speed faster and eventually you'll get a shot with the blades frozen.

In some ways freezing the rotors makes it look almost too static .I would say just getting a bit of blur with chopper clear is ideal.

Just google Apache Gunship images and you will see lots.
