I haven't use either the Sigma 10-20mm or the Nikon 10-24mm, but have got the Nikon 12-24mm F4 and Nikon 14-24mm F2.8, both of which are cracking lenses. From all the comments I've read from users over the years on the Sigma 10-20mm it's a cracking lens and worth every penny.

Thanks Oldboy, I just don't know whether to stick to Nikon glass or not. I just like the feel and build quality of Nikon

Another advocate of the Sigma 10 20 .I have also read that it's not really worth going for the fixed 3.5 in terms of quality .It's been around a while and got a recent highly recommended alongside likes of Canon Nikon etc .Well made lens hood and a decent case too.

I considered the Canon but have no regrets.

Cheers Matt
The Sigma 10-20 looks to be the lens I am looking for in terms of quality and price I will have to see if my local shop will let me test it out.

Perhaps search through Flickr for shots with both lenses and see what you think...

just to let you know I went for the Sigma 10-20 and am really pleased with the results, a huge improvement on the nikon kit lens. Thanks for your advice

Hi Steve
Good to hear you like the 10-20mm, I'm sure you'll get lots of use out of it...

Chris
one more question if you don't mind, do you use any filters with this lens i.e uv for protection or a polarizer?

Thanks again

I have a UV filter that lives on it. The only thing I would say is that if I use a UV and a polariser at the same time I get vignetting at anything wider than about 14mm. Seems fine with just a polariser though but I don't use it much - the coaring on the lens seems to partially polarise anyway
