Hi everyone, not been on site for sometime, but always liked to take part in the DCM one. Anyway my vote went to Mark's shot, very clever. If I could give 2/3 then it would be Jinky followed by oggalily - Janet

I didn't get an entry in this weekend, I just don't know where the time went. There are some excellent shots again, so I'm off to vote now.

Good to see you back toptotty, I hope you are going to start entering again.

Well done mark and jcrepe on the joint win. Both great shots.Mark you might have got my vote but I was not sure if I was looking up more than down at you.jc - close too just spoiled by that foreground edge of building that you no doubt could not avoid without jumping out.I voted for the other Mark`s fine guitar shot as I was feeling musical this week and like the angle and dof.
Reviews:
Above: Reggy - well done for doing it and getting an entry in to keep up numbers but the quality is affected by what you took it on though nicely framed and nice clouds.

Below : Andy - liked this but distracted by the edges of the leaves going in top right. Love the light flares on the water drops - were thse real or software created? Flares apart I am afraid it was just too green to get my interest.

Thanks for those voting my way.Not doing too well lately so nice to get a few votes

Congratulations on the win to Mark and Jcrepes.

Above, Jinky's, Downward Spiral; A nice capture but perhaps a little too 'abstract' in appearance through post processing; that said, I love art and it was 2nd on my list .

Below, IanPinion's, Vertical Tiles; I really like the whole idea of this shot, with both the DOF and the tiling 'lines in perspective' drawing the eye into the single row of tiles in sharper focus. Enhanced by the use of monotone, the simplicity and gritty texture grabbed my vote.

Good pictures all round again this week. Thank you to Jim and Michael for the votes.

Many thanks for your comments Paul; It's a genuine catch light flare, and I'm very annoyed with myself, as I had every intention of editing the distraction top right when I initially selected the frame (and cannot figure out why I failed to do it!).

Congrats on the win to Mark and Jcrepes.

Above oggaliliy - Lucerna

really nice try Chris I assume I am looking down on some kind of lamp shade and considering it was rushed not bad at all.

Below Mark Ellis - Oriented

Great shot Mark well composed and thought out a worthy winner.

Thanks for the vote Amy it is much appreciated and made climbing up that big hill worthwhile.

Jim.

Cheers for the comments Andy. Yes mine got a bit too arty after deciding that the grass background and dandelions in it were just too distracting. A lot of burning and painting and neon effect served only to confuse I fear and maybe lose the perspective. You can spend too long rescuing a flawed picture at times.
Nice flares then Andy - like the different coours too.

Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs... Thanks for the votes folks. Congrats to Jcrepes for the joint win. Given that I usually struggle to come up with competition topics I'd be more than happy for you to take the reins for the next one!

Above & below:

Semaj - Very pleasing shot in its own right Jim with lots of interest and warmth. To me though, it suggests distant rather than downward.

reggy - Nice catch given that you were otherwise engaged at comp time! I thinks it's very effective but let down by the quality of the iphone camera unfortunately.

Mark,

I've sent you an email about the possible topic for this week. Let me know what you think.

Am I being particularly dense here. Where the hell do I find my PMs/emails or whatever?? There's me thinking I just log in and it would be obvious... EDIT: found it now!

Anyways, jcrepes, please just go for it with the new topic. Like I say, my track record isn't brill, so I'm sure whatever you choose will be an improvement .

Mark
