Selling Prints and Images

I am looking for some help really. I am a landscape photographer, and am currently in the process of setting up a website to try and get known in the local area, and sell some images as prints.

Can anybody give any advice on getting my name around, both through my websites and through printed images?

I hope some people will be able to give me some advice and guidance?

Matt

I have often thought of having a go at this myself. Obviously there is some outlay to make, and often a very slow return on one's capital. Here on the Isle of Wight just about everyone with a camera is doing it in one way or another. I use a small gallery in West Cowes to dry mount and cut my matt overlays and they also cellophane mounted prints ready for sale. Perhaps you have a gallery in your area that would do the same. Preparation is the key to success and being a little different to other photographers doing similar things would be a good idea, simply because it is a tough market to be in, especially at the moment, where people don't have the spare cash to invest in 'art'.

You could leave your business card at galleries, and even offer to hang pictures free of charge in cafes, restaurants and even Doctors surgeries, where there is always a captive audience. Good luck with your
project.
