Another crafty tax!!!

Gordon and his mate Alistair may claim they won't put a penny on Income Tax but it's the way in which they tax everything else so craftily that gets me. I've just read about this fixed line tax for telephone landline users (Saga Feb 2010). It may only be £6 a year but that's just another nail in their coffin as far as I'm concerned!! They can tell me it will be spent on rural broadband provision but surely that's why we pay extra for broadband anyway. Next they'll be telling me they spend car tax on road repairs!!

Thumbs down Politics Gets Everywhere - makes you wanna VOMIT - does it not. !?!?!!?

"Bring back Maggie - all is forgiven" - I don't think.

Don't some people have short memories.

Pay your taxes and stop whinging - the country is in a poor enough state with the thieving bankers, sponging layabouts on the dole, school children, pet poop, old age pensioners, etc etc - is it not.

Wake and smell the coffee Gil
as a Private sector worker Gordon Brown put a tax on our contributions and in doing so destroyed one of the best pension schemes in the world and at the same time increased the public sector pensions which I and the rest of us have to pay for and is getting more unsustainable by the day.

I've had YEARS of wakening up Jim - don't need to "smell the coffee" - I was fooled by The MacMillan Era/The Heath Era/ The Thatcherite Era etc etc too - but benefitting now from a very good public sector pension - not paid for by YOU and others out of public taxes may I hasten to add - but mainly from the 11% deductions from my hard earned cash over my working years - I am not for complaining.

The bottom line is - save your whinging for "the ballot box" - that's what it's for - I just detest political points being made here - one way or t'other - or anyway inbetween.

By the way - go easy on the coffee - it will just keep you awake, make you grumpy and prone to political whinging - stick to the "horlicks" and chill out - in that way you may just enjoy your photography better and forget the woes of the world.

Oh dear, have I rattled a few chains again? I’m surprised Gil that you bothered to object to a comment made in that section of the forum which is described as “ Off- Topic Discussion: where to air your views on anything –just keep it clean....”.
If you really believe that your 11% contribution entirely paid for your “very good public sector pension” without my taxes propping you up then you must be somewhat naive.
Then again if you object to me airing my views without accusing me of whinging perhaps you are being obstinate and intolerant of my views . Must be careful here as my dictionary describes that as Bigotry and we’ve heard enough of that word in the last 24 hours haven’t we??

Wink Another One Bites The Dust

If you care to read carefully - what you "quoted" above - I did say "mainly" from the 11% deduction etc - OK I do conceed my salary may have come from the "public coffers" - in the first instance - but at least I earned it - from which I PAID FOR MY PENSION - in the main.

Methinks it was "your cage" that was rattled - rather than you rattling your chains - but whinging about paying taxes - why am I am not surprised at that - oh I forgot - I am supossed to be "naive".

Gil, As scoring points seems to be your prime objective I must concede one for the error over chains and cages - well done! You do seem to have overlooked, or have chosen to ignore , the original point being made that a tax is about to be placed on a service for which we already pay ( for a not very good service by international standards) and as a photographer who uses the internet I believe I have every right to post this on (as I said previously) an open area of the forum.
I am a fervent believer in free speech and would defend my right, and yours come to that, to say what I like ,when I like and where I like, without someone telling me to stop doing so – which is what you are doing. If you think that rattled my cage then score another point Gil.
Your comment about using the ballot box I could accept until next week then, If I follow your advice, I’d wait another 5years!
Oh, and as for your heading “Another one Bites the Dust” , now that’s really sad .Get a life Gil!
