Mount Suppliers

Hi Guys.

Would anyone be able to suggest or recommend a decent and inexpensive supplier of mounts & tapes etc?

I will only want to mount one picture every fortnight or so at the moment so it doesn't really warrent purchasing cutting equipment as yet as it's presently for personal use.

Many thanks in advance.

Lee

I have always used a local gallery for cutting my overlay mounts, so if you have one in your area ask them if they will do it. I usually have a 16x20 card (depending on your frame size) with bevelled aperture mat cut for the size of the image, normally 15x10 in my case. The charge is around £2.50 - £3.00. They also dry mount for me at a charge of £7 including card and vat, which in all honesty isn't much dearer than doing it yourself on a small time basis and worth it to avoid all the fuss in doing it yourself.

I used to have hand mount cutting equipment, but by the time you buy the card, make a few mistakes during the process of cutting, it just isn't worth the cost, time and energy you need to put into it. Professional cutters use computer generated cutting machines and get the fine details like straight edges and corners spot on. You owe it to your pictures to get the final framed image as perfect as is humanly possible in my view, so best not to spoil the ship for a happeth of tar as the saying goes.
