I usually recommend joining your local Photographic Club - and I notice that Aberdare has one (or at least it did, their online presence is limited to being part of Aberdare Online and looks like it's been abandoned).

Anybody wishing to compare their work, learn more about photography and be introduced to different aspects, your local camera club should be worth checking out..... beware, though - some of them 'died' due to being run by film-only members who look down their noses at digital users. Those clubs that are unwelcoming of digital photography and digital photographers all go to the wall eventually. Even those that have made the transition (and that doesn't necessarily mean giving up film altogether) took a big drop in memberships in the last decade and are only just recovering.

So make sure that a camera club that you might want to join is going to be doing what you want to do.
