Some good work there I love the one of the Dog in the open grass field. You certainly do cover a few subjects...a bit like myself. Although I am finding myself more drawn to macro and water shots.

Hope the photography course is going well and your getting loads out of it.

I never went to college or took any course in photography. I basically read loads of books and self taught myself...which probably took longer than if I went on a proper course but I got there in the end...or at least I hope so.

I am probably my own worst critic.

Anyways...keep up the good work!

Thanks. Iv been taking photos from a young age and only now have got to go on this course and that was lucky as i had a bit of spare money for it. I like macro but dont have the lens for it, am hoping to get one by the end of the year and i need a wildlife lens, but its all down to money again isnt it, which im short on. I only have my kit lens :/ but its ok although a bit frustrating when im out doing wildlife etc and cant zoom close enough

Have you entered photographer of the year?

Tell me about it, expensive is the word

I guess I am not too bad off as I use a fixed lens bridge camera so all my filters and lens are the screw on type, so not too expensive compared to lens kits.

Yeah, entering again this year, 3rd attempt. Last year was better for me than first time round, so I'm hoping the trend will continue.

I dont reckon I'll get anywhere near the top 3, but who knows...one day

How about you? Gonna give it bash?

Well good luck with it......of course its not about the money (yeah right) but the recognition..........having said that ten grand would look nice in my bank account!

I am uploading shots into the categories from time to time, will have a look out for yours and maybe vote on a few! Every little helps....

Hi Carys, welcome to the forums

Had a quick look at your site and you've got some great shots. I'm particularly keen on the black and white shot of the young woman sat on the beach. Lots of texture and good tonal range.

Hey Carys,

Some great shots on your website. Like Chris-P I love the B&W shots of the woman on the beach. My favourite one is the basketball against the water. Some would say the shadow is an issue but for me its spot on. Keep up the good work and good luck! These forums are always a haven for info! Happy snapping!
Regards
Stu

Some nice shots on your site, I like the dog in the water and the close-up of the pretty lady in B&W (is it you).

If I had to give one suggestion it would be to get in a bit closer to your subjects or crop closer if your camera is good enough.

Nice site though keep at it... well done !

Nice site. Some nice shots too, as everyone above me has said. Your b/w gallery, though small, is really good. You have an eye for what makes a good b/w shot and your conversions are also nicely balanced with strong blacks, good mid-tones and unblown whites. The woman sitting on the beach isn't an easy shot to get as it would be very easy to clip the exposure quite badly in either direction, but you have done a good job here both technically and aesthetically. Well done.
