Architectural/landscape photographer or plumbing?

Hi every one,

Im wanting to set-up as an architectural/landscape photographer i have some experience with cameras but only as an hobby, although I do some paid video camera work. My kit is a canon 5d 2 , 17mm-40mm L and the 28mm-105mm L that came with the camera. tripod filters ect.
I am basically after some advice things like who to approach to put my name about, web designers, marketing companies ect. anybody else?
Would also like thoughts on my website i know it needs a little more work,
are my images acceptable for commercial use? but my dilemma is do i spend time marketing myself or do i just carry on working as a plumber?
please no plumber jokes!

Regards
Stuart

It's your shout of course, but plumbers in my area get paid more than doctors (if you can get hold of one). I mean, 20 quid to put a washer in a tap is the sort of thing I mean. If you can earn more as a photographer then do it. If not stick with what pays best. Oh, and don't tell me it isn't always money. Money is what puts the food on the table and the lenses on the camera...lol

Don't give up the job you have till it is getting in the way (you are making more from photography)
Most startups fail in the first year. The main cause of failure is lack of cashflow. If you really think you can make it and you have proof,....cheques, cash, enough to live on, you will still need a backup till you are fully established.
There will be jobs that require you to hire gear, travel, pay models, wait till publication for payment or sometimes, get nothing because the client failed to come good on promises, or just plain failed. A reliable income while you build a reputation and bank account is invaluable; so is experience. Don't burn any bridges yet.
