Should be able to give a rating without making a comment

I actually went into the galleries, mistakenly thinking they had been changed after reading another post, and was going to rate a photo. However, I have to make a comment as well. I have no comment and posting "no comment" seems silly.

I'm just sat here thinking of improper ways to use 'then' or 'than', I'm not sure I can. What issues do you have, come on talk about it.

Hi donoreo,

The reason you have to leave a comment is to discourage anonymity in the rating system. We found that in the old DCM days lots of ratings could come from the same person that weren't necessarily indicative of the work - we felt that the addition of a comment meant you had to think more about the rating you were leaving and mean you can only leave one.

The comment you leave doesn't have to be long - just a couple of words will do.

Hope that helps,

Amy

Seriously? Are you new to the internet? I see people all the time using then when they should use than. Not so much here, but on US dominated boards it is rampant.

Then those words would be, no comment. It is too slow of process for leaving the comments. Can we have a poll on this and see what the users think? I mean the users are customers and customers are always right are they not?

Hi donoreo,

It was users that asked for that in the first place, as they said that anonymity of ratings led to false ratings.

You could leave the words "no comment" but surely you must have a thought about the picture if you want to leave a rating, even if the thought is "great picture" or "what a great photo" or "I'm not so sure about the colours" - there must be a thought behind the rating that should only take a couple of seconds to leave?

Thanks,

Amy

I remember that well from the old site and it even ended the use of the stars.
With comments even if it is no comment we will know who rated it.

Jim.

Unhappy Come On - Improve The Useabilty Of The Galleries

Even with the "abuse" of the rating system which occurred on the "old DCM site" - the galleries were much better - and indeed more user friendly - the galleries here are so difficult to browse and thus enjoy - are we ever going to get a slideshow viewer - or am I really "living in the past" in wanting such a convenient method of viewing to return - or does the second rate software used on this site not lend itself to the introducion of a decent slideshow browser.

Surely this is more important than a "rating system" - with or without comments - or stars.

I was only on the old a few times. If that was the feeling, then that is ok. I was there enough to know that the galleries were better though
