Advice needed on faulty f505v

I own the sony dsc-f505v camera which has develpoed a fault . When switching the camera on the lcd image screen will come on but as soon as I try the zoom or adjust any setting the screen freezes and no function on the camera will work.I then have to take the battery out and reinsert it and the exact same thing happens every time. Does anyone have any suggestions or should I resign myself to the fact that its gubbed and forget it ,Bear in mind this camera cost £800 quid 9 year ago as it was bought for my 40yh birthday from the wife so Its got a bit of sentimental value (lol) sad I know.

Sadly I think that you might have to resign yourself to the fact that it might well be nadgered (I think thats the technical term).

The camera is old enough that, unless there is some very minor problem that we've overlooked, it's probably not economically viable to fix it given that the lastest offerings in the same sort of vein as the F505V are around £250-£350.
