I am afraid 'no photoshop' (or more accurately no post production, since not all of us are well enough minted to have photoshop) is the digital equivalent of saying that the pictures must be developed at Boots.

I had my own darkroom in the good 'ole film days and I wasn't afraid to use it For me the taking of the photograph has always been the first step in creating the picture. Not to say that sometimes I do get a picture and think 'yep, that's it', because I do. Sometimes.

For this challenge I deliberately avoided, as per the brief, all but the most basic of pp work. I used a jpg shot and didn't use any in camera enhancements.

I quite understand that there are those who are not comfortable with pp work for either aesthetic or technical reasons. Some of us use a little, some a lot.

Vive la différence I say!

I tend to think it has it's place but you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.Unless the image has something to start with no amount of post production is going to rescue it.

As I shoot raw the bulk of my editing is
1. check levels

2 curves if needed

3 Reduce noise if needed

4 sharpen as needed .

I get real satisfaction when I have nailed my exposure and no tweaks are needed in the first two categories.

I suspect that a lot of patience was involved in this capture. Very well done Andy, a very worthy winner in my view.
It's not over yet and a lot can happen in a very short time span Thank you for your kind words.

In DC mag days we had a league table with points for finishes and all totted up for the "season" - seem to recall a certain Mr Ellis running away with that one. Fizzio did it and it was all beyond me how it worked,

I wouldn't want there to be a no Photoshop rule every week, I just thought it would be an interesting experiment this week. Next week normal service should continue, so I can produce more like this comp entry from last summer:

Ugh, Comic Sans. Like nails on a blackboard.

Difficult choice this week so many good shots without votes this week (not mine).
Sorry for the late vote but your shot Andy really filled the frame and won me over.

Jim.
