First again but it is already Friday here in Australia and being unemployed Ive got plenty of time on my hands.
This is a carved stone statue on a plinth above a swimming pool.
I havnt got any macro lenses so I took this with my 300mm zoom.Distance about 2 metres with a backdrop of dark tinted glass about four metres behind the subject.
Auto adjustment,cropping and sharpening applied.
Have fun everyone!!

Salty, It is of course for oggalily as the theme setter to add further explanation if necessary but based upon what he wrote when setting the theme quote take a picture this weekend in which nothing but your subject (or a part thereof) is in the frame unquote I wonder if your image which includes some background is acceptable. I had something in mind that due to the form of the subject would, out of necessity, have also included a small amount of background, but as per the theme have had to come up with something else.

@ ogga - is the image that Salty submitted (with background) acceptable as per the theme? If so, this would allow me to revisit my original idea.

Good question Forseti. Yes, a bit of background is allowed and Salty's pic fits (my vision of) the brief. As always there is room for interpretation.

By the way, I won't exclude any photos from the poll that I don't think meet the brief - I don't think that's my role and the voters will have the final say in those cases. I will exclude any that weren't taken over the weekend.

Since you asked, I have looked at my own flickr gallery to test my own pics against my own view of the rule.

Here's one where there is a central subject but the background is an important element to the composition so I would say it doesn't qualify:

This one is borderline, probably OK as is, but I might crop a bit off the top to make the point a bit more:

This one has some background but only enough to define the subject, so it's OK:

And this is pretty much spot on:

Thanks for that ogga and with the inclusion of those images there can now be no room for doubt.

I'm not sure it would - Will probably go in with a quick snap from the few whisked in this morning while out in the garden. Though so overcast here, the light is making my images seem rather flat

Well I'm in with this, I did find a nice group of ladybirds but I couldn't crop out enough of the background to fit the theme properly.

Straight out of the camera except I've cropped it square and applied an upsharp mask.
